doing a yoga classes can help to reallign my spine and other nerves?

i talked with a yogis, a yoga teacher and he told that doing a yoga class can reallign spines and nerves.. any scientific study for this??

I have been practicing Yoga for @4 years now. It proved to be a godsend when I was injured in a car accident. It damaged vertabrae and a rib. I am, basically, not asked to attend physical therapy as a part of my pain management b/c my Dr. knows I practice Yoga everyday. So, personally from experience I can say it is absolutely true. For scientific proof, read this article:

What is the difference between yoga and pilates?

What does yoga have that pilates doesn’t?
What does pilates have that yoga doesn’t?
And in what ways are they similar?

Yoga – It came way earlier

Yoga has been around for over 5000 years. It is something much more than just a way of exercising. In fact, it is a lifestyle change that many people need to take seriously. This type of program is centered on the spiritual healing of the body as well as the physical aspects. It uses a wide combination of breathing and movements to get the body back into its targeted range. Yoga is something that encompasses the entire lifestyle in ethical, spiritual and physical form.

It is important to note that yoga is centered on meditation and that the poses that are done are done to allow for better concentration and better meditation abilities.

Pilates – It’s a whole different animal

Pilates, on the other hand, is a physical healing process that uses movements and breathing to work. In Pilates, the body is taken from one movement to the next in a fluid change. This allows for continuous improvement in the body in a normal way. Pilates uses Contrology in its dance form. In this, the poses that are done are more fluid and provide for a more natural movement from one to the next.

Both of these types of programs allow for individuals to improve in their health and well being through breathing techniques. Controlled, regulated breathing is very important to the success of yoga or Pilates. Which Should I Choose?

In order to know which of these you should choose, the best way to know which the better choice is for you is to actually give them a try.

Does anyone do Hatha yoga?

I’m very interested in beginning meditation and hatha yoga. I want to be as true to the practice as possible…

health & wellness to you,
Hope

I’ve done Hatha Yoga since I was 22. I am now 58 and even though I have a severe form of rheumatoid arthritis, I can still sit in full lotus, stand on my head, and do most of the ‘poses.’ Go to a good book store, and look at all of the yoga books available. Get one that offers a beginner’s introduction to hatha yoga. That will give you the exercises you’ll need to get started.
For the meditation, you’ll need to do some research into the type of meditation that may work best for you. Basically, at the beginning, you sit in half lotus or full lotus with the hands on the knees, thumb touching the index finger. Close your eyes, sit erect, and begin to ‘chant’ a mantra to help clear your mind. You can choose a mantra that works for you … anything from the Om Mane Padme Om to a basic prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer. Chanting is more similar to singing than talking, and you should repeat your mantra for at least 30 minutes every day, usually in the morning, but if you are truly studying meditation, you’ll also want to chant at least 15 minutes in the evening. Good luck …
