Does anyone do Hatha yoga?

I’m very interested in beginning meditation and hatha yoga. I want to be as true to the practice as possible…

health & wellness to you,
Hope

I’ve done Hatha Yoga since I was 22. I am now 58 and even though I have a severe form of rheumatoid arthritis, I can still sit in full lotus, stand on my head, and do most of the ‘poses.’ Go to a good book store, and look at all of the yoga books available. Get one that offers a beginner’s introduction to hatha yoga. That will give you the exercises you’ll need to get started.
For the meditation, you’ll need to do some research into the type of meditation that may work best for you. Basically, at the beginning, you sit in half lotus or full lotus with the hands on the knees, thumb touching the index finger. Close your eyes, sit erect, and begin to ‘chant’ a mantra to help clear your mind. You can choose a mantra that works for you … anything from the Om Mane Padme Om to a basic prayer such as the Lord’s Prayer. Chanting is more similar to singing than talking, and you should repeat your mantra for at least 30 minutes every day, usually in the morning, but if you are truly studying meditation, you’ll also want to chant at least 15 minutes in the evening. Good luck …

What is the best yoga class to take for beginners? My gym offers hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, and club yoga.?

I don’t know what club yoga is because that’s probably something private to your club. But if this helps at all – Hatha yoga is very slow paced and focuses on your breathing and stress relief and stuff. Vinyasa is much faster paced. So I’d start with hatha and work up from there.

Generally, would it be better to do Hatha Yoga an hour EVERY day or every OTHER day?

Because I heard that all exercises give better results if you do the session on one day and rest on another. But I am asking about Hatha Yoga in this case, because it isn’t a vigorous exercise, I thought it could be better to do that every day? What do you think?

Thank you!

As a yoga therapist i always tell my students to do yoga daily and if they say that at least on
Sunday let us take rest, my answer is then you should give rest to your stomach also so
No Yoga, No Food. You are right other exercise are too strenuous so they need to be done
on alternate days but yoga should be and can be done daily unless of course you are ready to give your tummy a rest. Hope this satisfies your query. Good luck and God bless.
Cheers!
